On the BBC note about bullfights in Catalonia

Regarding the BBC note on what we hope will be the last bullfight in Barcelona ("Bullfighting in Barcelona to end with Catalonia ban", 24 September 2011), we would like to point out that, contrary to what is implied in the story, bullfights are becoming impopular not only among "Catalan nationalists" but all over Spain.

Although we were hoping that this matter would have been laid to rest by now, we would like to direct interested readers to some previous comments that we´ve made about it (see here, here, here or here).

An article on the subject in today´s New York Times is also worth a look: "In Catalonia, a Last Day of Bullfighting".
