Col·lectiu Emma - Explaining Catalonia

Valoració 13-D (anglès)

Wednesday, 16 december 2009 | Premsa
We are pleased to see that, with few exceptions, international reporting about the unofficial referendums on independence held last weekend in several Catalan towns has been informative and fair. This admittedly symbolic consultation was launched and run by private organizations mobilizing some 15,000 volunteers, with little or no financial support, and in the face of the initial scepticism of so-called nationalist political parties, the frank opposition of the ruling socialists and a prejudiced silence on the part of the major Catalan papers and the public radio and television stations.

Resposta a Libération (II)

Saturday, 12 december 2009 | BBC
A Public Reply to the Daily Telegraph (III)

Saturday, 12 december 2009 | Daily Telegraph
Your report of December 11 (“Catalonia holds referendums to push for independence from Spain”) offers a good account of what’s at stake in the largely symbolic referendums on independence that will be held across Catalonia on December 13 and of some of the reasons behind them. Once again, however – we already pointed that out with respect to an earlier story ("A Public Reply to the Daily Telegraph"), where exactly the same photograph was used – the picture accompanying the text doesn’t represent the spirit or the reality of the local consultations. Sobre la resposta al Financial Times

Friday, 4 december 2009 | Financial Times
The fragility of nations: how to handle secessionists" ("A Public Reply to the Financial Times (IV)"). A Public Reply to the Financial Times (IV)

Friday, 4 december 2009 | Financial Times
When discussing the question of independence movements from an international standpoint, the assumption always seems to be that those in favour of separation are dangerous fanatics, self-serving chauvinists or, at best, a well-meaning but barmy lot; states, on the other hand, tend to be given at least the benefit of the doubt. So commentators wanting to appear fair and reasonable usually end up making the case for the status quo, simply presuming that there is little or no merit to the independentist option. [+]

Respostes a Le Figaro i Libération
